Sony Ericsson has developed a small spherical surveillance robot that is controlled by Bluetooth. The device is capable of limited frame rate video and still imagery. The robot even has LED lighting for low light operations. No word on pricing or availability.
Wow, we are going to see more and more personal robots that will do any number of things. You are either scratching your head wondering what you'd ever do with one of these or you can't wait to have one. Either way we're going to see amazing advances in personal robotics in the next ten years.

What's a tag?
It's interesting that you flagged it as a surveillance robot. I mean, that's exactly what it is, sure, but they don't exactly position it that way. It's like the "fun" side of surveillance, rolling around and surprisingly taking pictures of things! Whee!
Presumably the goal of most users of this product would be different than those who explicitly seek to conduct surveillance. Yeah, it's semantics but it gets at the meaning/positioning of the technology depending on how its packaged and how it is interpreted.

Does anyone knows what happened with this robot? It looks like never hit the market or was immediately discontinued.
Sony Ericsson doesn't show any information on their web site.
