USA Today today reports that office supply seller Staples is partnering with grocery stores in the northeast to provide branded aisles of office supply products.
I think this is a great idea from the "everybody do what you are good at and partner where it makes sense" world.
This is what happens when retailers think like their customers. People like one stop shopping and will flock to it whenever possible. If you are a small business owner you may need to pick up both envelopes and a gallon of milk. Why make two stops or even deal with the crowds at the local discount superstore when you can just zip in and out of a grocery store and still buy the brands you are familiar with.
Word is that Office Depot is attempting the same thing.
