Zap Vehicles is auctioning off a SMART car on Ebay. The company plans to become an authorized importer of the super gas miserly vehicles that are popular in space conscious European cities. At this posting the high bid is just $15,000. At 60 mpg that's still a deal.
Is America about to see a new "Small is beautiful" wave driven by gas prices sweep over clueless automakers like the first one in the 1970s? That wave swept in from Japan this one may come from Europe in the form of this tiny space saving car.
In any event kudos to Zap Vehicles for their good PR in the guise of an Ebay auction.
Great idea! Too bad the auction was removed...

Looks fine for a personal vehicle, if you're traveling from A to B, not stopping to pick up groceries or more than one other person. I'm not sure how this would work other than simply in the city or in a specific area. Long distance appears to be out of the question. What's the difference in having this vehicle vs. the current crop of Detroit/Japanese offerings on the road. How many of these equal's one of the current auto's? Is there a gas/emmisions advantage one way or another? Over all costs vs. ROI? Are any Rental Car Agencies interested? How about Taxi/Livery companies?
