Engadget has this to say:
"Sony says that next month they’re going to come out with an e-book reader that uses Philips’ new electronic ink technology. The LIBRIe will have a resolution of 170 pixels per inch (more than twice that of most computer monitors), enough memory to hold up to 500 e-books, and its four AAA batteries provide enough juice to flip through more than 10,000 pages."
Let's all take a few moments to fathom the impact of this technology/device. Previous ebook reader devices were a failure because of two things. Battery life and display/device weight. It was uncomfortable to hold and use these devices. They didn't provide a book like experience. This device/technology appears to solve those issues.
While everybody in the tech world is rightly holding their breath waiting for personal video players (vpod if you will) something like this creates a new experience for the written word.
Doing a little (or a lot) of research? Why not download the last five years of a newspapers into your reader and search the contents on the morning train ride to work.
This ipod for books could change everything.
