Steve Rubel over at Micro Persuasion points to a breaking story. At the Olympics the IOC (International Olympics Committee AKA "Interests Of Cash") has banned blogging by anyone connected to Olympic teams. They see blogging and participatory journalism as infringement on the cash paying media. What a fear filled short sighted view. One would think that an Olympics in the islands of Greece would understand that a rising tide raises all boats. Sensible support of blogging efforts would generate increased interest in the official media outlets. If people read an athlete's blog don't you think they would be more inclined to tune in and watch their event?
Looks like the IOC like so many companies and organizations has a knee jerk reflex to ban what they don't understand. Is it too late for them to ban camera phones? Maybe they already do.
