These cool doorbells from SpOre are making the rounds of the gadget sites today.

What's interesting to me is the statement made about the value of design by employing these as doorbells. Either it will be the perfect finishing touch for a carefully designed building or it will denote your pouser status as your doorbell is the coolest thing about your building. So often this is the case with products, services and experiences that are 99% well designed. Often they are remarkable for the 1% where the design breaks down not the 99% that's cool.

It's not enough to be well designed. These days to be remarkable for the right reasons you need to be fully designed and thought out.
